The Green Revolution: Investing in Clean Energy

Presented by: John Van Moyland, Managing Director, S&P Global Head of S&P Kensho Indices, S&P Dow Jones Indices

Renewable energy consumption in the US has grown for the fourth consecutive year, and in 2020 exceeded coal consumption for the first time. Wind and solar are projected to account for more than 60% of new generating capacity over the next decade. Additionally, as people continue to work remotely and spend more time at home, energy consumption expenses will transition from businesses to household–leading to greater demand for cost-efficient energy. Clean power firms may provide a long-term growth opportunity as the transition to renewable energy around the world has accelerated quickly, stemming from improved efficiency, reduced costs and government support. During his presentation, John van Moyland will provide and overview of this burgeoning trend and offer ways that financial advisors can think about positioning client conversations and portfolios.
